Street Art: Inflatable Bag Monsters

Only using tape and garbage bags, Joshua Harris creates giant inflatable bag monsters by taping them down to sidewalk grates. They appear to be just another pile of trash on the street until the air blows, inflating the bags and bringing the monsters to life.

Origami is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding. The goal of this art is to create a representation of an object using geometric folds and crease patterns preferably without the use of gluing or cutting the paper, and using only one piece of paper.

World’s Tallest Building

The Burj Dubai (Dubai Tower) is a supertall skyscraper located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is predicted to be the world’s tallest man-made structure, as well as the tallest building by any means. The total budget for the Burj Dubai project is about $4.1 billion US and for the entire new ‘Downtown Burj Dubai’, $20 billion US. It is said that the price of office space at Burj Dubai had reached US$4,000 per sq ft and that the Armani Residences, also in Burj Dubai, were selling for US$3,500 per sq ft.

A record setting fountain system was designed for the Burj Dubai by the same company responsible for the fountains at the Bellagio Hotel Lake in Las Vegas. At $217 million, the fountain is illuminated by 6,600 lights and 50 colored projectors, it is 900ft long and is shooting water 490 ft into the air, accompanied by a range of classical to contemporary Arabic and world music.

Twitter’s New HQ

By now I’m sure everyone knows what Twitter is. But, do you know what it looks like behind the scenes in the Twitter headquarters? Recently, Twitter moved to a new, larger office in San Francisco. The office, which was previously occupied by Bebo, is not to far from their old office and was decorated by Twitter team members. The space is clean and simple with Twitter themed elements such as birds and @ symbols.
